First, after the sermon, the “doors of the church are opened,” which is an invitation for you to walk the aisle toward the Cross. That walk represents your desire to begin a new relationship with Jesus the Christ.
Next, you take four “New Disciples’ Classes,” given on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. All prospective members must take all four classes, which let you know about the UCC, about Advent UCC, its philosophy and theology, and other important information which will help you understand your new church home.
Lastly, you are taken in publicly on the first Sunday of the month following completion of your classes and given the “right hand of fellowship” following worship.
